Back in November of 2005, I was getting really excited for Yellowcard’s new album, Lights and Sounds.  The band is one of my personal favorites, and their single from the album of the same name had me all jumpy.  It was rather amazing.  The album turned out great as well.

Now, just over a year and a half later, Yellowcard is coming back again with another new album, Paper Walls, to hit stores on July 17th.  For those of us who are obsessed with the popular social networking site, Myspace.com, you may have heard that the band has placed a few new songs from the new album on their profile page.

The end result–amazing.  Yellowcard is taking it up a notch, producing some louder, more energetic tunes.  The three songs they have put up are Five Becomes Four, Light Up the Sky, and Fighting.  Each of these songs seems to be a lot bigger than what we saw on Lights and Sounds, which had quite a few slower, quieter songs on it.The band’s first single from the album is Light Up the Sky.  If you haven’t heard it by now, you may want to try and do so–you can listen to it on Myspace, and then download it on iTunes.   Its a pretty good song, though I don’t feel that its as powerful as Lights and Sounds was from their last outing.  I was quite surprised by this, seeing as how overall the new songs seem to be more energetic, but Lights and Sounds was just amazing.  Light Up the Sky is a more mature kind of sound for the band.  Then you get into Five Becomes Four, and the energy really starts kicking.I really hope that Paper Walls turns out as good as these three songs did–I’m really looking forward to it!  July 17th is the day that the Underdogs return.
