splatR was established on June 13, 2004, under the name Blog of Bagel. The blog at first was a personal blog about boredom during a long summer break. The blog then started adding new features, such as lyrics, countdowns, and game reviews, and evolved into a mega blog of many different subjects! In August 2005, the blog was renamed That One Blog, and continued to feature some of the most prominent and exciting news in many different industries, adding Theme Parks as one of the most popular topics. In May 2006, That One Blog moved from its Blogger.com server to WordPress.com, a newer, more promising blog provider with more features. The blog had its most successful summer and fall seasons ever, soaring to new heights and making a splash on the WordPress.com Top Blogs.

In January 2007, the blog was briefly renamed CUBE, where it focused on six topics (Music, Movies/TV, Humor, Computers, Games, and Theme Parks). It was then renamed The Six Faces for about two weeks, before That One Blog became the name once again while the new splatR concept was created.
